Home and Business Security Cameras in Aurora, IL

Security cameras can help provide evidence for crimes that occur in Aurora and Naperville, IL as well as other areas.

Security cameras have become a necessary tool for homes and businesses.

Watching the news for just a few minutes on any given day makes it glaringly obvious that security cameras are a very useful tool in determining what has happened at a home or business.  We often post links to articles showing how security cameras caught a burglar, vandal, thief or worse: a child abuser.  In each of these situations, surveillance can be the determining factor between capturing the thief and allowing them to get away.  Look at the Boston Marathon bombing for instance, where security cameras from a business on the street were used to identify the perpetrators in a matter of just a few days with the public help.  Those shots were even from a lower resolution CCTV camera, not even one of the newer high-definition cameras.  So for businesses and homeowners in the Aurora, IL area, it has become an easy decision that security cameras can be a very valuable tool for finding out exactly what has occurred.

Homeowners in Aurora often come to us because they are having problems with neighbors, kids in the neighborhood, gangs, or suspect problems with one of those.  By installing even a basic security camera system in their home, it is very easy for them to either confirm their suspicion and get the police involved effectively, or show them that their suspicions were wrong.  Either way though, with the cameras in place, their home will be protected in the future, so that they will always be able to know what is happening.  Unlike many systems on the market, our home camera systems deliver not only the ability to record and playback from the cameras, but also to view the cameras remotely over the internet from PCs, Macs, iPhones, Android phones, BlackBerry Phones, Windows Phones and much, much more.  With these advanced features built-in to both our standalone DVRs and PC Based DVR cards, backed by the support to help get the cameras online, you can watch children at home while you are away, monitor the babysitter or home healthcare workers or more.

Business owners have many things tearing at them daily, from increasing costs of well…everything, to decreased margins and shrink it can be nearly impossible to stay in business.  Let’s back up for a second though and look at one thing, Shrink.  What is shrink?  It is a line item on most businesses budgets, both large and small that basically tells you how much product or cash walked out of your business and is now unaccounted.  Crazy that the problem is so big, that we have to give it a nicer name than what it really is – THEFT.  Instead, we call it shrinkage, because if we honestly look at the numbers and say “well I had $100,000 in THEFT this year” there is no way that any sane business person would let that sit, they would drive themselves crazy realizing the impact that has.  Security cameras that are functional, easy to use and backed by a company like Platinum CCTV™, can help reduce or hopefully eliminate your shrink problem.  Theft usually starts out really small at a business, as thieves (internal or external) test the waters.  They want to find out if they will get caught first.  So a Pepsi or Coke goes missing from the fridge.  After a week, nothing happens.  Next a $5 or $10 item walks away off the shelf.  When nothing happens again, that is when owners usually start seeing the theft balloon when they are counting product at the end of the month.  By that point in time, if no security cameras are in place, then good luck trying to find out exactly what happened.  Catching the thief and being able to prosecute requires evidence…and what will the Police Departments ask for…you guessed it, security camera footage.  This is why we are seeing an increasing number of businesses in the Aurora area installing security camera systems.

Many of our customers come to our showroom from Aurora, IL to look at the available cameras and systems.  Their proximity to our Showroom in Naperville makes it easy to pick out the security cameras that will provide the video coverage that is desired with the features that are needed.  Our systems range in price from budget systems even as low as $30 per camera up to High Definition MegaPixel IP Cameras around $395 per camera.  This makes it easy to find a system that will suit your needs and budget for both home and business security.  We know that even big box stores these days are starting to carry ‘security cameras’.  Heck, Sam’s Club has been doing this for 10 years.  But what are you really getting?  Well usually our customers who have purchased these systems find out when they get the system home, that they have a very unreliable, difficult to set up system, with no one available or willing to help them with it.  We can be very competitive on pricing of discount systems, but the reality is, that when customers compare our budget cameras that match the quality of big box stores (often at a lower price still) to our other security cameras, they realize that quality DOES matter when it comes to video.  If you want to be able to prosecute, you must have video that can really identify a person properly.

Security Cameras on Android Phones – Alnet PC Based DVRs

PC Based Alnet DVR Systems with Android Security Camera Viewing

Alnet PC Based DVR and NVR Systems with Android Viewing

Alnet® PC-Based DVR and NVR systems are a popular choice for home and business security camera installations.  These PC-Based security camera solutions come in several varieties to suit installations of all different types.  Traditional CCTV security cameras require a DVR Card, which installs into a PC to provide inputs for the cameras.  Once the cameras are plugged into the computer, the video streams are then recorded onto the PC’s hard drive.  The other variety of PC-Based security camera system with Alnet® software is the Netstation NVR systems.  These systems use the Alnet® Netstation™ NVR software, which is the same software used by the traditional CCTV systems, but it does not require a DVR Card to be installed.  This software is used with High Definition MegaPixel IP Cameras, allowing you to record in High Def onto the PC Hard Drive.

Both systems use the same software, so they include the same list of features, ranging from great motion detection recording capabilities and email/text alerts, home automation system integration, multi-monitor support, fast-access preview mode playback, Mac and PC support, iPhone/Android/BlackBerry support and more.

As shown in the video above, our Alnet PC-Based DVR and NVR systems deliver the best features for remote viewing on Android Phones and Tablets.  With the Alnet CMS Mobile software on an Android Device, you can view live security cameras, watch multiple cameras at once, view cameras from multiple servers, control home automation devices, view alarm inputs and even playback video right on your PDA phone.  This type of system delivers better access than traditional Standalone DVRs.  Find out more about Android Security Camera Systems and find a system for your home or business

Think You Don’t Need Home Security Cameras?

Security cameras have many uses, but some you may never have dreamed of.

Think you don’t need security cameras? Think again.

Many people might think that they do not need security cameras, because “nothing happens in my neighborhood” or “I have a dog” or one of a hundred other things to justify to themselves that security cameras aren’t needed.  We really wish this was true, but unfortunately in our world today it is not.  Security cameras can provide us not only with deterrent and coverage of what happens when we aren’t at home, but sometimes help explain even more sinister events like the tale that follows.

In Las Cruces, NM, a man is now in custody because a family discovered that their German shepherd had what appeared to be ‘shrapnel’ lodged in the dog’s chest.  Review of their security cameras showed them the unthinkable.  Their home cameras showed their 50-year-old neighbor shooting their dog at close range.  The cameras were installed, because they suspected that their other German shepherd was poisoned.  Their neighbor, of course claimed that he had no knowledge of what happened to their other dog.

Install home security cameras, and you never know what mysteries you might solve, or unthinkable evil that you might prove.

Family Burglarized for 5th Time Catches Criminals on Camera

Wide video home security cameras are a great choice to show you What happens on your property, but are not always the best at delivering distinguishing characteristics to show the WHO.

Wide View Cameras show “What” happens

A family just outside Dallas in Garland, Texas has been victimized 5 times by burglars and theives.  Two of these occurences have reportedly happened within a two week span.  Joe Thompson, the homeowner, states that “this is really an indication of the times (we live in)”.  Unfortunately, he is right.  many people are victimized by thieves and burglars every day.

After previous burglaries, Joe and his family installed security cameras to help provide evidence if it were to happen again.  Luckily, this time, they did catch video of the individuals on their home security cameras, and are asking everyone to take a close look at the video (full video and newscast found here), and please call authorities if you recognize the individuals.  This latest theft has robbed them of thousands of dollars in tools, at a time when families cannot afford that type of loss.

When planning your home security camera system, we recommend using wideangle cameras like the one shown in this video to provide an overview of what happens on your property.  This gives you the “What” happened.  Then we recommend 1 or 2 cameras in key areas that are zoomed in to provide a better facial recognition of persons, so that you can see the “Who” and provide optimum evidence to police to help facilitate identification and hopefully capture of perpetrators.

View what happens at your home with enough clarity to see WHO is doing it with our New High Definition IP cameras

High Definition MegaPixel IP Cameras show the “Who” and the “What” at once

Our newest option for home security, is our High Definition MegaPixel IP cameras, which provide higher quality video feeds than traditional security cameras (up to 25 times the resolution of Traditional CCTV cameras), allowing you to see the “Who” and “What” together with a single camera in many instances.  These new HD cameras allow homeowners to have greater coverage with even fewer cameras than traditional CCTV cameras.

UPS Driver Steals an iPad Mini and more reasons your home should be protected

There are many reasons that we hear on a daily basis for why our customers protect their homes with security cameras. Reasons range from problems with neighbors, vandalism, theft, watching nanny or babysitters and much more. In the news, we see even more examples of how home security camera systems can help provide a happy ending for less than happy situations. Take for instance this video, showing a UPS Driver stealing an iPad mini that was delivered by FedEx earlier that day. Without having security cameras in place, this homeowner never would have really known what happened to their valuable iPad mini Christmas present, and might have even been responsible for the loss, because FedEx was told on a note to leave the package.

Home Security Camera System

Home Security Cameras can be used to help protect your family and even packages.

It really is sad that we cannot even trust the people who are paid to deliver our packages to deliver them properly, without trying to steal them. Security cameras can help to keep the honest people honest, by visibly showing those who are looking that they are being watched. If you have a visible security camera, then individuals who might be looking to steal would think twice, because the likelihood of capture increases exponentially. Beyond physical deterrence, security cameras both overt and covert will provide a video recording that can deliver quality video footage of exactly what happens. Just like the video from above, once you have captured footage of what happens at your home, you can get justice. In this case, a few calls to UPS helped this seasonal driver lose his job, and recovered the iPad mini for the homeowner.

None of us like to think that we need to protect our homes, but the reality of the world is that every year devices like spy cameras and home security cameras become a more useful and necessary addition to home security plans. Alarm systems are great to let you know if someone breaks in while you are there, and can help to dispatch police, but provide no evidence about what has happened. This is where security camera systems come into play, providing hard evidence of what has happened, so that you can see exactly what is occurring both live as well as playing back if something happens.

Business Security Cameras with Internet Viewing

A Quality Business Security Camera System should include security cameras to cover the cash register, product, entry and exit and employee areas.
Small Business owners always need to have an eye on their money.

Business owners have a lot of hardships to overcome to try to help their business succeed. Each day they are faced with an increasingly saturated market, stiff competition and even people stealing their ideas to use them against the business. Amidst all of this chaos, a small business owner is still striving to succeed, make work for those around them, stay alive and thrive. However, often the same people who the business owners are trying to assist with jobs are actually stealing money out of their pockets.

Theft has touched virtually every business small to large. A business owner cannot be in all places at once, so it can be difficult to even find where the theft is coming from. Luckily there are tools to make this job easier, such as business security cameras. These camera systems can provide owners with the evidence they need to be able to tell the difference between good employees and bad employees, as well as help to determine when customers are the ones committing the crimes. There are many different security camera systems to choose from, so it is important to consider exactly what benefits you need from your security camera system prior to purchase.

Security camera systems range from Traditional CCTV Camera systems, with a resolution of 352×240 up to 720×480 and record onto Standalone DVR recorders or PC Based DVR Cards/Software to MegaPixel HIgh Definition IP Camera Systems that deliver HDTV Resolution video, which allows business owners to even zoom in after the fact forensically to see more detail of what happened.  Both budget and quality are considerations when selecting a camera system.  The traditional camera systems can be much less expensive, but may not deliver the quality that you need to see the money going into and out of the register.  High Definition camera systems on the other hand are like watching an HDTV video feed, so less cameras might be used to provide the same level of coverage desired.

Either type of system however, can provide the much needed evidence and support that you need as a small business owner to make better decisions about your employees, customers and even product positioning to really assist you in succeeding.  Invest in a quality business security camera system to start getting the most out of your business today.
